Born and raised in British Columbia, Canada's Okanagan Valley, Krystal Kiran grew up studying ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, classical Indian dance and vocal studies as a youth. She made her Broadway debut as a teenager in the original cast of the Andrew Lloyd Webber produced musical BOMBAY DREAMS in New York City. Since then, her career as a multifaceted performing artist (actor, singer, dancer and choreographer) has spanned theatre, film, television and performing in stadiums and arenas around the world. Select live performance and theatre credits include Academy & Grammy Award-winning composer AR Rahman's JAI HO WORLD TOUR, LORD OF THE RINGS (original world premiere cast), WEST SIDE STORY, and originating the role of SAROJ RAI in Mira Nair's stage adaptation of MONSOON WEDDING (based on the hit film) at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in California. Select TV/film credits include: HAIRSPRAY, PRIVATE EYES, MINORITY REPORT, WORKIN' MOMS, HEMLOCK GROVE, RICK MERCER REPORT and HELLCATS.
As a choreographer, in addition to creating dances and movement for various commercials, industrials and dance studios, Krystal's credits include assisting on films SUICIDE SQUAD, THE LOVE GURU and writing/choreographing/directing and starring in the award-winning short film THY BEAUTY'S DOOM for BravoFACT.
Passionate about teaching, Krystal shares her knowledge and expertise as a guest instructor and teacher across Canada, USA, UK, Spain and India at schools and studios such as the JOFFREY BALLET, STEPS ON BROADWAY, London's PINEAPPLE STUDIOS, PERFORMANCE EAD in Madrid and FUTURE SCHOOL OF PERFORMING ARTS in Mumbai. She is the founder of the Maple Batalia Memorial Scholarship for the Arts at Emily Carr University in Vancouver and produces her own projects and ventures through her company HOUSE OF KIRAN. Krystal is a graduate of the Professional Theatre Training Program (Banff Centre-Citadel Theatre) and is an honorary graduate of the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts.
Krystal currently makes her home in Toronto.
